AC Recharge or AC Repair?
A vehicle AC system is sealed. If it is low on refrigerant, something is letting it out, so a recharge by itself is a temporary fix. We locate the leak first, repair it, then evacuate the system, recharge it to the factory capacity, and retest vent temperature before the car goes back to you. We do not reach for stop-leak sealant as a default; it can contaminate the system and the recovery equipment, and it makes the real repair harder later.

Do I need an AC recharge every year?
No. A sealed system that holds its refrigerant does not need topping off. If yours is low again, it has a leak worth finding.
Are the DIY recharge cans a problem?
They can be. Overcharging raises system pressure and strains the compressor, and the sealant included in some cans complicates a later repair. Have the system tested before anything goes into it.
