How to Get Caught up on Routine Auto Maintenance

car preventative maintenanceThis time of the year is the perfect opportunity to get caught up on your routine auto maintenance. The warmer temperatures are only going to get hotter as we head into the summer months. We want to make sure your vehicle is ready to handle the rigors of an Arizona summer. Summer oftentimes brings about road trips and family vacations and the last thing you want to do is be stranded on the side of the road somewhere.

Taking care of your vehicle, and getting any necessary auto repairs done along with your regular preventative maintenance is the best start to any trip. An article from ASE and Car Care discusses the dangers of having a breakdown when you’re on your way to a well-deserved vacation. Maybe you didn’t have a warning that something was wrong, or maybe you did and you ignored it (we’re all guilty). Either way, if you are stranded on the side of the road instead of poolside, you’ll wish you had your routine maintenance done beforehand. ASE has some helpful recommendations to get your vehicle summer-ready.

One of the first things we recommend, is to take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with your owner’s manual. It will have the recommended service interval schedules, customized for your particular vehicle. Make sure you are on schedule with your maintenance, and if not, make an appointment with your local auto repair shop to get back up to date.

Your trusted auto mechanic can check the tightness and the condition of your belts, clamps and hoses. Have them check your oil and filters and perform an oil change and filter changes as necessary. A coolant flush is also a common maintenance item to have completed before the heat of summer. The level, condition, and concentration of the coolant should also be checked. Of course, you’ll want to check the condition, pressure and tread of your tires as well – including the spare.

Last, but not least, inspect your wiper blades, fluids and the myriad light bulbs throughout your vehicle. Contact our auto repair shop today for your preventative maintenance services and get your vehicle ready for summer! Putting in a little time and effort today means a lot more fun for you this summer!
